H2GreenFUTURE PHOTO CONTEST

All photography enthusiasts are invited to take part in the photo competition titled

»Hydrogen – Energy of the Future«

The aim of the competition is to showcase the importance and potential of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source through the lenses of your cameras. The photo competition is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg Slovenia-Austria
international project H2GreenFUTURE.

The H2GreenFUTURE project addresses the challenges related to the development of hydrogen technologies for the transition to a carbon-neutral society in Slovenia and Austria. The increasing impact of climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions point to the need to develop carbon neutral technologies. In addition to the development of pilot infrastructure for hydrogen technologies, the project also includes the creation of a comprehensive innovation ecosystem with a stable regulatory framework and the development of knowledge, skills and competences in the field of hydrogen and hydrogen technologies for different stakeholders.

With the photo competition “Hydrogen – Energy of the Future”, the project partners aim to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of hydrogen use and the development of breakthrough hydrogen technologies to achieve the green transition.

Hydrogen is the most abundant chemical element in space and on Earth, where it is mostly bound with other chemical elements in water and organic compounds. It can therefore be produced from almost any energy source. The purest, so-called green hydrogen, is produced from water by electrolysis. Used in a fuel cell, it produces electricity that can be used to power vehicles. The only emission produced is water vapour, which does not pollute the environment. However, green hydrogen technologies are currently little used in our daily lives because of the costly processes involved. Nevertheless, many laboratories of research institutions, educational institutions and companies are developing solutions for a wider use of these key future technologies.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Who can participate?

Kindergarten children, pupils, students, researchers, entrepreneurs, users, professional and amateur photographers... etc.

You can share with us photos of your research or educational activities, the use of hydrogen in work/production processes, its use in everyday life or how young people are being educated about hydrogen. With hydrogen, the sky and the ocean are the only limits 😊

How to Apply?

The competition is open to all photography enthusiasts, regardless of age or experience. Each participant can submit up to three photographs in colour or black & white technique. Each photo must be titled (up to 50 characters with spaces) and briefly explained (up to 300 characters with spaces).

The photos must be original and must not have been previously published.
The photos must be in digital, JPEG or PNG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
Photos must be at least 10 megapixels in order to be presented at the travelling exhibition.

The photo contest is open from 15/04/2025 till 30/09/2025!

Commission and Selection

A jury composed of all H2GreenFUTURE partners will select the four winning photos (two from Austria and two from Slovenia).

Selection criteria:

  • Innovation – How well the image represents the potential of hydrogen and hydrogen technologies
  • Visual impact – Aesthetics, creativity and clarity of the photo
  • Story – How effectively the image communicates the theme
Awards

Participants who submit winning photos will receive:

  • H2GreenFUTURE promotional package
  • Participation in a future project event (tour of the Hydrogen Technology Lab / H2 Green Demonstrator pilot / demonstration of a hydrogen-powered car model)*
*event to be selected in agreement with the winners

The winning photos will also complement the project's promotional activities:
  • Demonstration postcards will be produced
  • They will complement the H2GreenFUTURE travelling technology exhibition to raise public awareness of the importance of developing green hydrogen technologies.
  • They will be published in the H2GreenFUTURE e-newsletter and on the project's LinkedIn profile. Other photos will be included on the Hydrogen Centre's website in order to promote participants activities in the field of hydrogen technologies, as per authors agreement.

Copyright

Photos will be used for promotional activities of the H2GreenFUTURE project and will not be used for other marketing purposes. The photographs will not be sold or distributed to third parties. If a request arises, we will address the request to the author of the photograph.
